Vinted Users Voice Frustration Over Sizing Modifications
Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The second-hand shopping app has updated its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes failing to inform every member regarding the update.
Social Media Reaction
Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification than originally posted due to the recalibration.
Vinted explained the new system was more in line with similar services.
They have suggested members to review their products and manually change the size when needed, which has left users frustrated.
Sizing System Changes
Before the change, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Member Stories
A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as size 20–22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she said.
Required Changes
A different user, from Derby, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she said.
Service Background
The app has more than 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK.
It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: last year, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
